What We Believe
These are our basic beliefs, which we believe to be core elements of biblical teaching.
We believe in the one true God who lives eternally in three equally divine persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who live in perfect loving communion glorifying each other.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
We believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil so all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ are reconciled with God. We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which vindicated Him, defeated death, and secured eternal life for His people. The justification of sinners is solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that he is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
Humanity and the Gospel
We believe in the love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world. We believe that God’s creation was made very good and that God created human beings, male and female, in his own image.
We believe that God’s good creation has been corrupted by the fall as a result of Adam’s disobedience. This caused sin to enter the world and for every part of creation, including humanity, to be marred by the effects of sin, and bound by the futility of decay and death. Most significantly, humanity has become separated from God and under his righteous judgement.
We believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only hope for humanity’s reconciliation to God for through it, Christ’s death and resurrection is proclaimed as the only means of salvation.
Revelation and the Bible
God has revealed His existence, power and character through the creation of all things, visible and invisible. He has revealed Himself in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ who is, the very image of God.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we believe that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. We believe authoritative scripture to consist of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament and affirm its power to equip God’s people as they hear, believe and do God’s Word.
The Church
We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is head and all born again persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a body of believers in Jesus Christ, baptised on their own profession of faith. The local church gathers together on the Lord's Day for the purpose of hearing God's Word preached, praying together, singing praise to God, and encouraging one another through fellowship.
The body of believers are united by their love and worship of God and their love for one another. The church is known for its devotion to God's Word and prayer, to the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and to fulfilling our great commission.
The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe in the personal, glorious and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bringing eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost.
We believe that God will establish a new heaven and a new earth in which God will be all in all and his people will worship and treasure Him perfectly for all eternity.
