Life 22
1st February 2022
This year, through A Passion for Life, we are joining together with over 750 churches across the UK & Ireland as we seek to make Jesus known in our communities. We are partnering together to pray, learn, and step out with the message that real, satisfying, meaningful life that lasts is found only in Jesus.
Jesus said,
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3)
Our aim is to establish within our congregation a regular rhythm to our evangelism, with our training designed to enable members to grow in their confidence in the gospel. There's two ways that we want to focus on as we share our faith:
'Go and Tell’ - it is our hope that, as members, we will increasingly take opportunities to go and tell the gospel to others who do not yet know Jesus
'Come and See' - as a church we will host events, which we can invite non-believers to come along to and hear a clear gospel presentation
We hope you will join us as we Pray, Host, Invite and Follow
Pray – begin by praying for unbelievers that you know amongst your family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances and colleagues.
Host – as you pray, seek to host one or two of them, perhaps at home over a meal, or taking them out to dinner, or simply having a regular coffee with them. The aim of hosting them is to deepen your relationship, let them see the unique place Jesus has in your life, and to seek the opportunity to talk about Jesus with them.
Invite – as you spend time together, we will have a number of ‘come and see’ events throughout the year and it is our prayerful hope that inviting others to them will be a natural progression flowing from our prayers and hosting.
Follow – following on from your hosting and invitation to events, there will also be the chance to explore the Christian faith for those who want to find out more about Jesus. We intend to have a mixture of day-time and evening courses such as 'Hope Explored’ or ‘Christianity Explored’ for people to attend. Or you may wish to follow up yourself by offering to look at John's Gospel with someone using 'Word One to One'.
It is our prayerful aim that this year we will see many of our unbelieving contacts become followers of Jesus and find life in Him.
To allow you to begin praying and thinking about who you may invite, we have put the following plan together for this year.
After the woman met Jesus at the well in John 4, she left her water jar and went into the town and said to the people,
"Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?" (John 4:29)
That's what we're aiming to say - 'come and see Jesus who has transformed my life'. And we pray that our friends and family members might respond as many in the town did when they said,
"It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world." (John 4:42)
And let us pray for one another and encourage one another as we seek to introduce others to Jesus,
John
