Job Club
cap-job-clubs-logogreen

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not currently able to operate our Job Club in its group service format.

However, if you need support with a CV or getting ready for work now, you can enter your details below or call us and leave a message and one of our team will get back to you and try to support you remotely.

At Calderwood Baptist Church, we partner with Christians Against Poverty to provide a friendly, practical help as you seek employment. It's a relaxed environment with the chance to meet other jobseekers, get support and gain the tools you need to find work.

Being unemployed can be hard to deal with on your own, but being part of one of our Job Club means you face the challenge with other people in similar situations. One in every seven people attending a club has found work.

You can register for the Job Club Course today by calling 01355 341055 or complete your details below and we'll call you back!

What's involved in the CAP Job Club?

step1

Community

We know how hard it can be to stay motivated when you are searching for work, especially when you’re on your own. That’s why we’ve designed CAP Job Clubs to be a relaxed place where you’ll meet other people in similar situations, who understand what you are going through, and will support and encourage you along the way.

step2
Course

We will also help to equip you with the practical tools you need to find work. Our eight-session course will walk you through each step of the job hunting process; from identifying your strengths and skills, right through to writing a great CV and learning how to succeed in an interview.

step3
Coaching

You will have the opportunity to have one-to-one informal support from a dedicated CAP Job Club Coach. They will spend time helping you to set goals, and to identify and tackle any areas you are struggling with.

step4

Connecting

CAP Job Clubs can also provide you with valuable opportunities to connect with local employers to provide advice, and also offer work experience. Past members have said they found it useful hearing first hand from employers what they are looking for in a candidate, and some have even gone on to find work through these new contacts.

step5
Congratulations!

Every week, we are celebrating with people around the UK who are finding employment through our CAP Job Clubs – you could be one of them. Whatever stage you are along the process, why not see how CAP Job Clubs can help you maximise your potential and step into employment?

Our Community Care workers would love to get to know you and your family. If you would like to talk to someone about how we can support you or if you are interested in coming to church, please do get in touch with Thomas McNeil or Karen Dornan. If you are not able to email, you can call us on 01355 247660.

Some key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

Our Church usually meets every Sunday at 10.30am and 7pm for our Sunday Services. Aim to arrive 10 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start. You can park in either the car park behind the Church or the Hunter House car park next door to the Church.

We meet at:

Calderwood Baptist Church
Maxwellton Road
Calderwood
East Kilbride

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.

In our morning service, there will be around 45 minutes of worship with the whole Church family when there will be singing, prayer, and a children's message. At this point, the children will leave for their own Sunday Club. The Bible will then be read and one of our Pastors or leaders will preach from God's word. The service usually finishes around 12noon.

In our evening service, we usually spend about 20 minutes singing and praying before the Bible is read and preached. Our evening service usually finishes around 8pm.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after all of our services where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the kids at our Church. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their programme.

We have a very gifted team of Sunday Club teachers who lead a great curriculum for all ages. We have the following Sunday Club classes:

0-3 years:     Creche
3-5 years:     Pre-School Sunday Club
P1 - P7:        Sunday Club
S1 - S3:        Bible Class

For more information about our Sunday Club please visit our Sunday Club page.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
